Stop A.I. Data Centers
In Pennsylvania, developers are rushing to put massive Data Centers into place for the proposed development of Artificial Intelligence. These impossibly-huge structures threaten to take away our water and land space, raise our electricity and natural gas costs to astronomical levels, and irrevocably change our quality of life by loudly* imposing themselves on the physical spaces of our lives. And just like fracking, which has destroyed the natural environment and physical health of many Pennsylvanians, these Data Centers promise almost nothing in return for the destruction which they will certainly bring.
I am the only candidate opposed to any and all Data Center development, and will work to stop them at every turn, unless they would be in areas such as former industrial (brownfield) land which has already been cleared and is ready for use, or inside former mines, and would also require that whoever owns them would pay for any and all utility costs, including the development of related energy and transportation infrastructure which would power and serve them. (There is only one such site in the PA House 187th District, and I would recommend against its redevelopment because of its close proximity to neighboring homes, businesses, and forests.)
The main way to stop any Data Centers from being built, of course, is to limit our own use of any Artificial Intelligence and rely on people's skills, talents, and abilities instead. (This website, for example, was something that I built myself.) That again is the heart of this campaign: forever and always, people matter, and we must value and prioritize people far above anything and everything artificial and material. We must all work to Put People First.
*One of the most destructive parts of Data Centers is their noise level, which is a constant 85-95 decibels that can cause major health issues in community residents. See the article below for how this happens.
